The Samsung ChatON Now in the Android Market!

After the iMessage and the popular Blackberry Messenger the Samsung version of the instant messenger, ChatON is now available for download in the Android Market.

Samsung announced the app back in August. The best feature of the ChatON is that unlike its brothers on the iOS only or the Blackberry OS only it is expected to become available on various platforms. Though currently running only on the Android OS, it is expected to be launched for the iOS the Blackberry OS and Samsung’s very own Bada OS.

ChatON is a free service that allows one to one and also group chats. Besides instant messaging it also allows you to send pictures, audios and videos to the other side. One interesting addition in the ChatON is that you can also send info, calendar and contacts to the receiver. For group chats a handy “Trunk” option available on the app lets you see all the items sent and received in each session.

The Android Market describes ChatON as;
Chat your way, with ChatON! ChatON is a global mobile communication service that enables you to have better relationships with your buddies and groups of buddies. ChatON brings together all of these methods of communication, expression, and sharing in one place.

After personal testing of the application we confirm it that the ChatON works as well as it should.  And if ChatON catches on it will easily replace all the former instant messaging services, namely the iMessage and the BBM because of its compatibility with a wide range of smartphone platforms.

What may sound interesting here is that the ChatON’s biggest competitor is not the iMessage or the BBM; it is an application name as WhatsApp. It covers even more platforms than the ChatON; iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and the Symbian. It will be difficult to shift users from the WhatsApp to the ChatON as it is already well established. Still as ChatON has Samsung on its back it can be hoped that it will get on pretty well. Samsung itself can give the application a big boost by including it on every smartphone they launch.
