Brazil Records Highest Number of Visitors in a Month

Brazil recorded the highest ever visitor numbers during a single month with 799,763 travellers crossing the border. The visitors spent like £340 million which is another record for the month.

The data, released by the Central Bank of Brazil also indicates that from January to October 2011 tourists spent £3.6 billion, 16.08 per cent higher than the same period last year (£3 billion). Calculations include official foreign exchange spending and international credit cards.

“It is great to see that international tourism is strengthening in Brazil in spite of the financial crisis", said Flavio Dino, president of Embratur states.
