Roberto Cavalli the 71 year old Italian Designer on November 21, launched the first Fashion Week to take place in Tel Aviv in 30 years. The designer showcased his Spring 2012 collection at the gala show, with long gowns, sequins and feathers dominating the aesthetic.
The collection had initially been shown at Milan Fashion Week earlier this year, although Cavalli unveiled it for a second time in honor of Tel Aviv Fashion Week, which is the result of collaboration between Italy's fashion council, the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, and Israeli fashion executives.
Cavalli played an integral role in the rebirth of the event due to Milan and Tel Aviv being sister cities and from now on there will be two Tel Aviv Fashion Weeks each year, with plans already underway for an April 2012 event.
"I feel that fashion today... is international because all of you read the same magazines, we watch the same movies and fashion is there. From there you get an idea what to buy," said Roberto Cavalli.
