Dolce & Gabbana To End Its D&G Line

There were rumors back in March that D&G was on its last legs, but now finally Dolce & Gabbana announced that this spring 2012 show for its D&G diffusion line will be the last label.

Sources close to the designers as well as Italian retailers said that the two lines were “cannibalizing” each other because they were too close in price. Other retailers actually expressed surprise at the rumors, because the D&G line did especially well in Asia and Russia.

The designers said in a statement that folding D&G back into their signature line would give “even more strength and energy to our collections.” It’s expected that the scope of the collection will increase to include other categories.
