Facebook's Rival Developer Dies

Ilya Zhitomirskiy, co-founder of the social networking site Diaspora, has died aged 22.

Zhitomirskiy was one of a group of 4 students launching Diaspora as an answer to privacy concerns raised by Facebook users. The project is said to have received an undisclosed sum of money from Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook.

Memorial services are to be held in San Francisco later this week. The cause of his death is yet to be determined.
