For decades Ferrari has been producing one of the best supercars in the world but now this Italian car-maker is ditching its famous red livery as it experiments with going green. Ferrari 599 HY-KERS hybrid is based on Ferrari 599 GTB Fioriano and this would be the first hybrid car that is produced by Ferrari. 599 HY-KERS consists a 6.0 litre V12 petrol engine, electric motor provides 100 horsepower, a seven speed gearbox. It has a topspeed of 200mph(miles/hour) and does 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds. CO2 emissions 270g/km (a 35% reduction on a petrol-only model).
The electric motor connected to the gearbox can start up the car silently and whenever the car brakes the regenerative braking sends energy to a prismatic-cell battery pack and the engine turns off. This energy can then be used to extend the vehicle’s range or provide a 100hp assist while driving. The vehicle is also capable of operating in full-electric mode for short trips.
