Google's BigQuery Set To Rival Analytics Industry

Google's BiqQuery service now offers firms and businesses a chance to analyse their datasets.

According to experts, the new tool poses a major challenge to the analytics industry and can process billions of rows of data in seconds. The generation of "analytical results of high significance for business decisions has not been easy historically," according to Christian Lagerling from GP Bullhound and "requires significant PhD level engineering hours to be able to fully comprehend and apply the results". Additionally, issues such as data-handling by Google pose a major security concern.

The service's major competitors include IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, SAP and SAS.
