HCL Launches a Cheap Tablet in India

HCL launched its new Android based tablet, named the X1 on Thursday with a price tag of only Rs. 10,490 in the Indian market. The company said in their statement that the device possesses a friendly UI that will enable people to easily navigate through the tablet, also that it will come preloaded with some specific applications. They added further that the device is based on the general customer demand and has been designed after a survey among the Indian consumers.
Running on the Android OS 2.3 the tablet houses a 1 GHz processor, a 1GB processing memory and also a 2 MP camera. The storage capacity of the device is 4 GB which can be expanded to 32 GB with memory cards. A unique feature that the X1 has is that it gives users the option of data connectivity through USB dongles.
Harsh Chitale, the company’s CEO said that the device will satisfy the customers by “redefining” the on the go experience for them by the design, technology and the display it possesses. He said that in the present day customers do not only looks for just a product, they search for a product complete productivity and a service ecosystem, that is why HCL has produced applications and content for the Indian public. He further added that all these would be backed up by the HCL’s integrated backup service, the HCL touch.
With a device like the X1 HCL aims to win the local market from the foreign competitors providing customers an experience that is at least the same, if not better, than the other tablets.
