Magnetic Therapy For Stroke Survivors Helps Regain Speech

A demonstration by scientists at the University of Queensland in Australia showed magnetic therapy of brain could help stroke patients to recover and regain their speech .The brain undergoes magnetic stimulation via the therapy called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and has profound effects on stroke survivors.

A magnetic coil placed against the head is used to generate weak electric currents in the brain tissues;low frequency form of brain stimulation reactivates the portion of brain that controls speech.

This technique has been used in past to treat depression patients and now it is proving to be a remarkable therapy for stroke suvivors treating about 80% of the stroke patients.
