The number of Chinese students studying in American universities has tripled over the last 3 years, making them the largest group of foreign students in the US, primarily because of the fact that "their (US) education is very good". Most of them get conditional admissions - they can begin taking classes only after successfully completing an English course.
American universities however, after welcoming China into their educational world, are in a fix! How do they distinguish between genuine applicants and those who have submitted fabricated information! How can they "get them to engage", is something that keeps Scott Stevens, director of the English Language Institute, "up at night"!
