Nicholls Pens New Ending For Dickens' 'Great Expectations'

Mike Newell's new adaptation of Dickens' 'Great Expectations' comes with a new 'thriller' version from David Nicholls' pen.

According to Nicholls, the ending lies "somewhere in between" the two pictured by Dickens, "one which is incredibly bleak and one which is unrealistically romantic and sentimental". The film casts Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham and Ralph Fiennes as Magwitch and comes as part of celebrations marking Dickens' 200th birth anniversary, Dickens 2012.
