Edward, Swinburne University of Technology developed a unique design 'AirDrop' for irrigation in arid areas and won 2011 Sir James Dyson design award. He copied Namib beetle's survival style to design the unique system. Namib beetle survives by using the dew from hydrophilic skin of its back. Device extracts water from air and distributes it to plants hence irrigating even in driest places on planet. Biomimic i.e. copying nature to develop effective systems always helps making simple and effective systems.
