Cuttak, November 29: Rohit Sharma played a thrilling innings of 72 runs to guide India to the victory over West Indies in the first One-day International here on Tuesday.
Kemar Rouch and Andree Russel busted through Indian batting line up as half of the team went out for just 59 runs, while chasing a target of 212 runs. Sharma and Jadeja put a desperate 83-run stand for the 6th wicket to rescue India.
Sharma then added 42 valuable runs with Vinay Kumar (18). India required 9 runs of the last two overs before Umesh Yadav hit a boundary to win with 7 balls to spare.
Indian Pace-men Yadav and Aaron both secured 2 wickets to hold West Indies to a modest score of 211 runs. Bravo top-scored for Indies, cracking 64 runs of 74 balls.
