Short People Have 'Shortage' Of Genes

Shortage of genes could be a reason for lack of height ,a study suggests
Scientists have pointed only some specific gene characteristics to account for 10 percent of the difference between people heights

But researchers explain the phenomenon quite differently as they believe that up to half of the genetic influence on height is caused by the missing copies of genes or sections of DNA.
The study published in American Journal of Human Genetics, although concluded a small but tight link between lack of height and missing gene .Furthermore the trend remains irrespective of the type of  genes which were missing.
Copy number variants (CNV) –the genetic abnormality caused via alterations in chromosomes results cells to have too many or too little of the copies of a slice of DNA.In some cases the whole copy of genes might also be missing or duplicated.
Everyone has some CNV deletions but the unusual ones-where part of a genome is missed, cause a short stature.
Studies conducted on 12000 people from the Children's Hospital Boston propose that against every million CNV deletions, people lost one eighth of an inch in height.
