Book Review: Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery

A heartwarmingly beautiful story by L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables is the first in a series revolving around an orphan girl Anne Shirley, who is adopted by Marilla Cuthbert and her brother Mathew.

Originally hoping to get a boy from the orphanage to help her and Mathew around the house, Marilla unwillingly takes Anne under her guardianship trying to knock some sense into the constantly-chattering, red-haired little girl they have mistakenly brought home. With Mathew already too fond of her, Marilla soon finds out the extent of her own attachment to little Anne. The story evolves as Anne grows up and makes her own place in the little town of Avonlea as the gifted adopted daughter of the Cuthberts. A touching story of close and selfless relationships, the book is a must-read!
