Jordi Gomez scores the 88th minute equaliser for Wigan Athletic

December 17: A late equaliser from Wigan ended the match in a 1-1 draw just when Chelsea had began to build momentum.

Daniel Sturridge scored the opener on 59 minutes following Frank Lampard's accident with Diame that send him out of the pitch with bleeding mouth. Cole's long crossfield ball over Wigan's defence found Sturridge running into the penalty area who touched the ball for a shooting position and lashed the ball across the keeper.

On 88 minutes a horrible mistake from Petr Cech enabled the equaliser. After a good move for Wigan  Rodallega bursted into the penalty area just to the left of centre. He tried to roll the ball across goal but Cech instead of intercepting lets the ball bounce off his chest into the middle of the six-yard box and Jordi Gomez, arriving fast, tapped-in to the empty net.
