Earth Eras: Goodbye Holocene, Hello Anthropocene!


Anthropocene is the new word used to reflect modern age among scientific society. Where Holocene is used for the last era. These eras are distinguished based impact of human behavior on the Earth and its atmosphere which includes our impact on land use, ecosystems, biodiversity and species extinction.

Scientists now believe our current 12,000-year-old geological era- Holocene, may have finally started to pass and Anthropocene is starting to take root. The term was popularized in 2002 by the Nobel Prize-winning atmospheric chemist Paul Crutzen.
