As revealed by environmentalists, fake Christmas tress are not as eco-friendly as they appear to be. Infact, in terms of greenhouses gases and landfill space, they are much a bane than boon.
"All of the environmental groups and all of the scientists say you should use a real tree. The debate is over,” said Rick Dungey, a spokesperson for the National Christmas Tree Association. “The only people still talking about it are the people trying to sell fake trees.”
These fake trees are a mojor concern as they are made from polyvinyl chloride, a plastic containing lead and other harmful toxins.Moreover, their shipment across oceans, usually in diesel-fuel powered ships,contributes even more to the greenhouse gas emissions and hence Global Warming.
