Hard beds are bad for backs

A person suffering from back pain is always told that he/she needs to sleep on a firm mattress. This is explained by the results of a formal research study.

A team at the Kovacs Foundation in Palma, Majorca, took 313 patients with chronic, non-specific lower back pain and gave them either firm or medium-firm mattresses to sleep on for three months. Those with the medium-firm ones were twice as likely to report an improvement in pain when lying down or getting up and were less likely to need pain-killing medication.

The US Sleep Council advises that you go for a supportive mattress, rather than a hard one. Those labelled 'orthopaedic" are generally just extra-firm," says spokesperson Jessica Alexander." But what's right for you depends on your weight.Don't be afraid to try mattresses out in shops to find one that's most comfortable to you".[

At the end, a special note from the editor: When you are spending time, energy and money is choosing not the mattress bu the "best mattress" for your body, don't forget about those who have to sleep on roads. While practicing prevention, do practice generosity as well. Make a contribution any where that makes you feel satiated. After all,an analysis of, "A giving heart can glow with health" will tell you this is for your own good.
