John Carter - 2012

John Carter is an epic science fiction film featuring John Carter, the heroic protagonist of Edgar Rice Burroughs' 11 volume Barsoom series, a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars).

The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter , who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris. In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

The film is directed by the Academy Award winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton staring Taylor Kitsch as John Carter, Lynn Collins as Dejah Thoris, Willem Dafoe as Tars Tarkas, Thomas Haden Church as Tal Hajus, Samantha Morton as Sola, Dominic West as Sab Than, Polly Walker as Sarkoja, James Purefoy as Kantos Kan, Mark Strong as Matai Shang, Ciaran Hinds as Tardos Mors, Bryan Cranston as a Civil War colonel who comes into conflict with Carter and Daryl Sabara as Edgar Rice Burroughs, nephew of John Carter.

The film is scheduled to be released on March 9, 2012, distributed by Walt Disney.
