Lake Turkana, Kenya, is the world's largest permanent desert lake and the world's largest alkaline lake. The climate of this area is hot and very dry. This Lake tells the weather story of the world.
On the hills of Turkana basin, paleontologists have found earliest evidences of humans in fossils. Thirty years ago it was completely covered with water but now its just sand. And according to scientists, in just a few decades it will be reduced to just a puddle.
A local fisherman expressed his experience to a CNN reporter in these words:
"When I was young this lake was full. The water just keeps going down. We used to get big fish every day, now they are tiny."
In Turkana the rains are less often and droughts are more regular.
