Mayans '2012' Depicts End Of Calender, Not World

According to some experts, the '2012-end of the world' predicted by the Mayan calendar refers not to an apocalypse but the end of an era.

The December 2012 date reflects "the day of creation", says Mayan codes researcher Sven Gronemeyer, in addition to being the day that marks the return of the Mayan god of creation and war, Bolon Yokte.

The date depicts the end of one of the 400-year periods into which the Mayan calendar is divided and has never been prophesized to mark the end of the world in any of the 15000 Mayan texts registered with Mexico's National Institute for Anthropological History.
