Do You Know Your CRP?

It stands for C-reactive protein, a measure of inflammation in the body. According to two research studies, it may be as important as cholesterol for determining one's heart disease risk.
A simple blood test, the cardiac CRP, can give a score: CRP less than 1mg per litre indicates low risk; greater than 3 is high risk. Even if one's cholesterol is low, his/her CRP may be high! This information could help people who never knew they were at high risk, get treatment.
