Brain-Eating Amoeba Fatalities Linked to Common Cold Remedy

Recent incidents and follow-up research works suggest that nasal-irrigation devices called neti pots can pe fatal if used improperly. Louisiana's state health departmenthas issued an official warning after two recent deaths. The two victimized used net pots improperly by filling it with tap water rather than the suggested sterilized one. A deadly amoeba living in the tap water, called Naegleria fowleri, worked its way from their sinuses into their brains causing a fatal neurological disease called primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAME). PAME patients' neural tissue gets destroyed very quickly and this kills them in just a few 'days.
