Pakistan clean sweep Test series


Abdur Rehman turned the game in the second session

Mirpur, December 21: After Bangladesh slumped in their 2nd innings, Pakistan successfully chased a target of 103 runs to win the 2nd Test match and the series on Wednesday.
Pakistan took a lead of 132 runs in the 1st innings and bowled out the hosts on 234 in the 2nd innings. Bangladesh were set reeling on 95-5 but Nasir Hossain (79) and Mushfiqur Rahim (53)raised Bangladesh's hopes of drawing as they put up a 117-run stand for the sixth wicket.
Their struggle could only delay the results as the spinners bowled out their remaining batsmen for just 22 runs. Abdur Rehman claimed 4 wickets while Umar Gul, Aizaz Cheema and Saeed Ajmal all took 2 wickets.
Muhammad Hafeez then struck a fast 47 runs that easily steered Pakistan to the victory.
Bangladesh showed some good performance for the first time in the series as they scored 338 runs in the first innings. Shakib Al Hasan (144) and Shahriar Nafees (97) made a out-standing 180 runs partner-ship for the 5th wicket. Pakistan fought back brilliantly in their 1st innings as Taufiq Umar struck a century and five other batsmen scored above 40-runs to lift the score to 470 runs.
Pakistan will now play with England from 17th January.
