Trying to be what one isn't intrinsically somehow does not go well with me. It's almost self-humiliating and threatens to undermine one's own abilities and uniqueness.
While doing a sociology assignment a couple of days ago, I realized the significance of Virtue Ethics, the genre of ethics that believes in "being rather than doing". Of course, actions count a lot but at a later stage and only when one is from inside a worthy being.
It's extremely important that we realize the importance of our own self, a major contributing factor towards boosting one's self-confidence and self-esteem. Starting from the very basic level of nurturing our inner values, the upward climb towards becoming a virtuous being is an extremely gratifying task.
So, to all the readers out there who are a victim of the above mentioned 'ailment', I hope this helps.
