Lori Berenson, the American woman who has served 15 years in prison in Peru, has been allowed to pay a parole visit to the US.
Berenson 42, was arrested by Peruvian authorities in 1995 for aiding left-wing rebels, the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement, involved in robbing banks as well as kidnapping and killing people during the 80's and the 90's.
She has since been detained on Peruvian soil serving a 20-year sentence in prison. This is the first time the Peruvian authorities have allowed her to to return to the US.
