The Spanish royal family reveals its finances for the first time "in the spirit of transparency and modern times" (the BBC reports).
The state pays King Juan Carlos an annual sum of 292,752 euros of which 140, 519 euros is his salary and the rest is for expenses. The tax the king pays amounts to 40% of his income.
Crown Prince Felipe is paid 146, 376 euros and the Queen and the three princesses get a total of 375,000 euros between them.
The annual budget of the royal family for the year 2011 was 8.4m euros.
