Why Do We Shiver!

All of us must have experienced shivering at one time or the other. We shiver and our teeth chatter when we feel cold. But why do we shiver???
Shivering is a body reflex to cold. When its cold, nerve signals go from our brain to spinal cord telling our muscles to quickly alter between tightness and looseness. This quick altering of muscles heats the body. So be assured, when you are shivering your body is producing heat quickly.
