Bowlers revived England hopes

Mohammed Hafeez walks off, falling lbw to Graeme Swann for 88
Dubai, Jan 18: England fought back admirably and took 2 wickets in last 2 overs to restrict Pakistan to 288-7 on the 2nd day of the 1st Test match.
After a disappointing 1st day for England, the opening partnership between Mohammad Hafeez (88) and Taufiq Umar (58) of over hundred runs was good enough to demoralise England but their combination of spin and pace, and restricted Pakistan to a lead of 96 with only three of only their wickets remaining to take tomorrow.
Pacemen Anderson, Broad and spinner Swann all claimed 2 wickets but captain Misbah-ul-Haq played a wise and slow innings of 52 runs to put Pakistan in lead.
Misbah also became the 28th Pakistan batsman to reach the 2000-run landmark in Tests. His average of 46.47 puts him fifth on the list of Pakistan batsmen with 2000-plus runs.
