Steve Sidwell heads home for Fulham, moments before Bobby Zamora's winner |
Frank Lampard scored in closing stage to earn Chelsea a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton. This much needed victory ended Chelsea's win less run to ease the pressure on Andrea Villas-Boas.
Chelsea had gone ahead on 54th minute when Juan Mata's corner was flicked on by John Terry and hammered into the net by Ramires.
The late drama started when Stephen Ward equalised on 84th minute, shooting from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner on Steven Fletcher's cross.
After a series of fouls from Wolves, Frank Lampard had put Chelsea ahead within 5 minutes. Fernando Torres started the move passing Ashley Cole on the left, who crossed over in the danger area where Lampard finely flicked the ball into the middle of the net.
Fulham came from behind as Zamora and Sidwell scored late to steer the cottagers to a remarkable 2-1 win over Arsenal.
After 21 minutes, Laurent Koscielny header on Aaron Ramsey had put the gunners in front. Arsenal defender Dohan Djourou was shown a red card on 78th minute for an unfair foul on Bobby Zamora.
Steve Sidwell headed the equaliser for Fulham on 85 minutes before Bobby Zamora scored in the last minute of added time to seal the victory. Squillaci's poor defensive header had set up Zamora to volley home the winner.
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger went angry with Lee Probert after Johan Djourou red saying 'Nothing went for us from the referee, nothing at all'. Arsène Wenger also felt Lee Probert should have awarded his side a penalty
"The referee influenced the game completely the wrong way in my opinion," Wenger said. "We cannot influence that. We had a good first half … in the second half we were more tired and in the last 10 minutes we lost the game because we were down to 10 men. The first yellow card was not a yellow card; the second yellow card was a foul for us. It was also 100% a penalty for us in the first half."
"When Djourou got the first yellow, every time they went down to get him the second yellow. He did nothing at all. I saw it coming because when Frei came on the game was all [about] looking for the second yellow card for Djourou. The referee was naive enough to give it. We played many games recently and we knew that if we dropped our level we would be in trouble. But we would not have been in trouble if we had stayed with 11 on the pitch."
The defeat left Arsenal outside the top four in the Barclays Premier League.
