Graphene Pioneers Knighted

Profs Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, two Nobel laureates credited for pioneering the work on graphene, receive knighthoods.

It was their research on graphene as the world's lightest material, that won them recognition by the Nobel committee in 2010.

Graphene, a carbon sheet just one atom thick, is also transparent. An electrical conductor as good as copper, the material has unusual properties promising an ultra-fast future for transistors.
