How to Be a Do-Gooder

Generosity or the attitude of "doing-good-to-others" undoubtedly keeps one happy and healthy, as posted many a times in SAM Daily Times. Let's See some ways of achieving this.

According to Charles B. Inlander and Marie Hodge, one should always "LOOK" for opportunities to do good in the world. Being charitable is a requirement but one should do it because he/she "wants to".They furthwr suggests as follows:

"Does a child in your area need money for a life-saving bone marrow transplant? Making a larger-than-expected contribution might do the job. Have you read a newspaper story about someone braving a major life crisis or do you know someone personally in such a situation? Write a note of encouragement or offer to pitch-in and help.

You don't have to save the entire world from calamity to do good. Sometimes you can have amajor impact by alleviating seemingly minor, everyday suffering.Take for example, an elderly neighbour. most of the activities you engage in without a thought can be major obstacles for older people. Lend a hand! Shovel snow from your senior neighbour's side walk in winter; take him to the grocery store and help bring the supplies in;invite him over for a cup of coffee and send some baked goods over to him one day.

You dont have to look far to find a good cause. Be creative.
