South Africa bowled out Sri Lanka on 43 runs to win the 1st ODI

Morne Morkel's is thrilled after dismissing Angelo Mathews
Paarl, Jan 11: Srilanka suffered a humiliating 258-run defeat from South Africa as they were all dismissed for just 43, their lowest total in one-dayers and 258-run defeat was the third largest in ODI history.
After winning the toss the Proteas mounted 301-8 as Hashim Amla scored 112 runs. Smith was dismissed early but Amla made big 2nd and 3rd wicket partnerships with Kallis (72) and de Villiers (52) respectively to pose a big score. Lasith Malinga claimed 5 wickets for 54 runs but the were not at required time, except the 1st one, as the opponents had played 40 overs with the loss of just two wickets.
South Africa's bowling was devastating especially the opening fast bowlers Morne Morkel (4-10) and Lonwabo Tsotsobe (3-19). Morkel triggered the collapse in the first over as Upul Tharanga attempted a leaden-footed slap which ended as a low catch at backward point.
Tsotsobe bowled the next over and dissmised Dilshan, who gloved to the keeper and bowled out Chandimal in his next over. In the 5th over of the innings, bowled by Morkel, Sangakara was caught to the keeper and  Mathews popped to the midwicket.
Spinner Robin Peterson picked up 2-5 to finish poor Srilinkan innings, as AB de Villiers enjoyed a welcome start as South Africa's one-day captain.
This was the fifth lowest score in ODI history and all the five came on the African soil. The lowest being 35, scored by Zimbabwe (agaisnt Sri Lanka) at Harare, April 2004.
