Beethoven letter uncovered in Germany

A letter written by leading music composer Ludwig van Beethoven is uncovered in Germany.

The 1823 letter's existence though already known, "is hugely significant", broadcaster John Suchet told BBC News.

"It means we can look at his handwriting, which was always untidy, because his father took him out of school very early so he could concentrate on music."

In the letter, Beethoven complains of money problems and ill health.

"My low salary and my illness demand efforts to make a better fortune," said Beethoven.

According to an estimate, the historical document is worth more than 100,000 euros.
