Pensive: Indeed, the 'animal'!

By Sarah Mahmood

A few days back, I wrote a piece tracing the evolution of human advancements in technology, economy and society. Today I'll trace another chain.

From our 'uncivilized' Neanderthal forefathers to the 'civilized' man of today; from the nude hunters of the early human civilization to the 'refined' breed of humans today; from the ancestors who were 'more animal-like' in habits to the 'educated' sapiens of today, do you see any difference?

The human today is yet again becoming more and more prone to wearing less and less. The way of living, the randomness of relationships, the anonymous fathers of so many around the world, signify the gradual increase in our habitual-resemblance to animals. Leave the conventional food aside, we are now going to taste human flesh live on t.v. (ironically, a major proof of our technological advancement)!

Where are we heading towards? Despite all that we have achieved, are we still any better than the mindless animals around us (that we once were, for all the 'Darwinists' out there)?
