Materialism and 'pretty-vocal charades' I must say, have become kinda mutually constitutive, don't you think so?
While the race to get the best, whether it be a car, a house, a job or things as simple as clothes and shoes gets tougher, it brings with it a highly despicable attitude: one of showing off. The habit gets more and more profuse as the thing-to-be-showed-off gets better in quality, status and/or privileges. Despicable it is, because the said entity is being bought/earned/achieved for pretentious reasons aiming to intimidate others with the superficiality of it all.
And don't kid yourselves. WE all are the said victims!
