Ponting and Clarke set Australia for a white-wash

Clarke and Ponting put on an unbroken stand of 251
Adelaide, January 24: Captain Michael CLark and Ricky Ponting both scored centuries as Australia piled up 335 runs for a loss of only 3 wickets on the first day of the 4th Test Match on Tuesday.
The hosts faced a early trouble after they went down to 3-84 with Ravichandran Ashwin taking two of the three wickets to fall before lunch, but Ponting and Clark, who built a 288-run stand before Clark's tripple century at the SCG earlier this month, again went for a huge 4th wicket partnership of 251 runs.
Both players reached their half centuries from 69 balls and, moments after Clarke raised his bat to acknowledge his 50, Ponting saluted the crowd on reaching 13,000 Test runs.
Ponting is the 3rd highest Test run scorer and shares the 2nd spot for the highest number of Test centuries, while Sachin Tendulkar, who hopes to reach his 100th ton, tops both the records.
