Roberto Mancini into transfer market for Kompany, Toure cover

Yaya Toure
Manchester City face a defensive crisis that may force Roberto Mancini into the transfer market. Vincent Kompany's four-match suspension and Yaya Toure's absence for the next month, due to African Cup of Nations duty during January, is a huge blow for Manchester City which Mancini is expected to cover from January Transfers.
City have appealed to save Kompany but if failed Kompany would then be forced to sit out both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final against Liverpool and Premier League fixtures against Tottenham and Wigan.
City captain Kompany, who has already served a one-match ban this season following a dismissal for two yellow cards against Wolves in October, was dismissed by referee Chris Foy eleven minutes into the 3-2 FA Cup defeat against Manchester United following a two-footed challenge on Nani.
Mancini was under pressure to take a decision as Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations demand that players must be sold before signings are made.
He said, “Every time I say I need a player we have a problem.
“But Real (Madrid) and Barca have been the best teams in Europe for a long time and they still buy players.”
