Stranded girls use Facebook to raise alarm

Two girls trapped on the Pembrokeshire coast use Facebook to summon lifeboats to rescue them.

The girls, stranded amongst rocks on the coast, used the social networking site to raise an alarm seen coincidentally by Tenby RNLI volunteer Ross Edwards. He then, instructed the two girls to call the coastguard

The lifeboat crew was able to rescue the girls "cold but unhurt" according to the coastguard.

"We would never encourage people to rely on this method, but to call 999 and call the coastguard should they ever find themselves in trouble," said Phil John of Tenby RNLI.
