Trier's Melancholia best film of 2011

The US National Society of Film Critics reward Lars Von Trier's film Melancholia as the best film of 2011.

Von Trier had to miss out on Cannes in May after getting expelled for expressing sympathy with Hitler.

The movie, starring Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg, is based on two sisters facing up to the end of the world. Dunst was named best actress by the panel of critics.
