Austrailia:Australia's reliance on a model of
research-active universities may be turning off students, leaving them
disengaged from academics who would rather spend their time on research
anyway, according to a report from the Grattan Institute think tank.
In his Mapping Australian Higher Education report, Grattan higher education program director Andrew Norton argues that it is proving difficult for universities to combine research and teaching, resulting in a reliance on casual teaching academics.
