US prosecutors have warned that data uploaded by Megaupload users and stored by third parties faces possible deletion.
The warning comes after the file-sharing site was shut down on 19 January making it impossible for its users to access their data. According to Megaupload's lawyer, the site has at least 50 million users who could be victims of the lost data as a result of the legal action.
The site's funds have been frozen making it impossible to pay those who are storing its data.
