Arsenal, Chelsea misery continues

Richardson scores for Sunderland with a fine left-foot drive against Arsenal

Arsenal's miserable week got even worse as they suffered a 2-0 defeat from Sunderland in FA Cup.
Richardson scored the opener after 40 minutes when Larsson swinged a unnecessary free kick into the box which was cleared by Vermaelen but the ball only fell to the left-hand edge of the area, where Richardson unleashed a low shot that, via a small deflection off Squillaci, went its way into the bottom-right corner.
The second goal was an own goal when Gardner's shot hit the right-hand post and rolled across the face of goal, where it hit Oxlade-Chamberlain on the shins and bounced slowly over the line.
Daniel Sturridge's second-half header earned Chelsea a replay after his side missed a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.
Murphay scored the opener after 20 minutes when Fahey sent a corner it into the near post, where it was flicked into the six-yard box where the ball fell to the unmarked Murphy at the far post and he volleyed past Petr Cech.
Ramires won a penalty moments later after Wade Elliot had needlessly brought him down. But Mata's effort was palmed away by Colin Doyle on to his right post. Chelsea walked off to jeers at half-time and Villas-Boas was required to act. On came Drogba and off came Chelsea's £50m striker Torres.
After the break Chelsea did improve. Daniel Sturridge's header from an Ivanovic cross was this game's classiest moment. Ivanovic curled a superb cross into the area from the right and Sturridge, left alone six yards, glanced a header into the left corner
Manager AndreaVillas-Boas was booed at half-time and at the end as pressure continues to pile up on him.
