Britain's Queen celebrates 60-year reign

The day marks Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne, and thus the death anniversary of her father King George VI.

The Queen spent her Accession Day visiting the Dersingham Infant and Nursery School in Norfolk. The school's head teacher, Gayle Platt, said: "I am sure this will be a memorable occasion which will be remembered by everyone for many years to come."

The anniversary was marked by gun salutes held all over the United Kingdom, including a 41-gun salute in Hyde Park, London and a 21-gun Royal Salute at Edinburgh Castle.

The actual celebrations start in June.
