Etro Returns to its Paisley Roots in Milan Fashion Week
Etro returned to its iconic Paisley roots for the autumn-winter collection in Milan on Friday, with outfits that exuded sensual femininity with stretch dresses, corsets and fishtale flared skirts.
Designer Veronica Etro said the silhouettes were "taut and tinged with sexiness", and she was right: the models slunk down the runway in printed caddy stretch dresses in autumn colors with designs which accentuated their curves.
Outfits in creams and soft pinks were embellished with curving black lines, following the body's contours, while skirts had ruffle paneling down the back, accentuating the bottom -- perhaps not a look every woman is likely to go for.
Navy blue and woodland greens and orange Paisley patterns were worn on trousers and dresses, under fur body-warmers or black leather biker jackets.
Very wide leather peplum belts acted almost as mini-corsets.
Paisley prints stitched onto sheer netting in an evening dress sparked particular interest -- creating an optical illusion which made the patterns looked tattooed onto the skin.
