Oregon Scientific used the appropriate venue of the American International Toy Fair to dip into the still young world of tablet for kids. The MEEP is another seven-inch Android tablet, but comes hardened for the rough use common to the younger group. The shell itself is built to withstand common drops and scratches, while a rubber silicone sleeve can cushion it a step further.
The developer wasn’t specific on the Android version or processor. MEEP has promised parental controls that can be set remotely through a browser and Wi-Fi is the only option to get online.
With this kids’ tablet internal storage and SD cards will be available. A suite of add-ons will make it useful for specific use cases: Oregon has mentioned instruments as some of what will come.
Release details were left open for the MEEP. Most Toy Fair products usually ship closer to the end of the year to take advantage of the holiday season.
