A Mona Lisa replica, considered one of the earliest, reveals new details after being restored.
The painting was discovered at Prado Museum, Madrid and is thought to be made by one of Leonardo's students.
The original painting at the Louvre is covered under various layers of old varnish. Restoring it is considered extremely risky due to its fragility.
The replica however after getting its layer of black paint removed reveals the same Tuscan landscape in the background as Leonardo's original.
Mona Lisa's smile makes her look much younger - in her twenties - than the original masterpiece. An x-ray examination of the painting has revealed that the work was actually carried out at the same time as the original version.
The painting, after being restored fully, will be available in Louvre alongside the original for comparison by visitors.
