Polish poet Szymborska dies at 88

Polish Nobel laureate for poetry Wislawa Szymborska dies of lung cancer aged 88.

Born in 1923 in present-day Bnin, Poland,  Ms. Szymborska started her career in literature in 1945. She subsequently went off to win the Nobel award for literature in 1996 "for poetry that with ironic precision allows the historical and biological context to come to light in fragments of human reality". She has been described as the "Mozart of Poetry".

Her last work of poetry will be published posthumously later this year.
