Facebook Readies A New Tool To Preempt Twitter

Facebook has fastened the seat belts to launch a tool that will enable users to subscribe to “interests”. In couple of weeks’ time users will find the interest list on the home page’s left hand side bar. The entire new view will appear upon clicking that certain list, which will be comprised of a list’s members.

Some tech pundits say the new tool is a move to usurp Twitter and Facebook wants to create real time stories like microblogging site which can be followed by users later on. Facebook is also said to be going after the social news feed service, like Flipboard.

The social networking giant describes the new tool as “a new way to keep up with the stuff you care about and tidy up your experience…Interest Lists can help you turn Facebook into your own personalized newspaper”.
